Welcome!

Thanks for stopping by my blog for Laurie Peacock Photography. I'm a Chicago-area wedding and portrait photographer who loves capturing the sparkle in the eye, a gentle caress, a burst of laughter. I admire photography that conveys a mood. My style is part photojournalism and part "whatever will get the great shot." I'm a firm believer in excellent customer service. You come first. Plain and simple. While being in front of a camera can be scary, I want to do everything within my power to make a photo shoot or your wedding day fun and easy. When you receive your finished photos, I hope more than anything that the people in the photos won't be the only ones with smiles on their faces.

This blog is where I post my latest photos, both personal and professional. Stop by often, since I update it frequently. If you're a perspective client and want to see more of my work, feel free to visit my portfolio here. You can also see some of my older photos here. Don't forget to say hi. I love comments.

My sister’s wedding

So I wasn’t the official wedding photographer for my sister’s wedding. No biggie. Instead I had the honor of being the maid-of-honor. My sister hired fantastic photographers, so I tried just to capture random moments for my sister and family to smile at later.

First, the happy couple two days before the wedding. Can you see their stress flickering behind their eyes? hehe. Putting on a wedding is no joke!

Free wedding photography, Iphones, and Bikes

I’m giving away two free weddings for 2009 for new clients. If you have a destination wedding, I’ll shoot the event for free. All you’ll have to do is provide me with airfare and hotel stay. I’m also providing free photography to one couple planning to tie the knot in Chicago in 2009 who have had a very tough 2008 due to family illness. As we all know, life is fleeting. I want to help you remember that it also can be very, very special. E-mail me at peacock.laurie@gmail.com or call me at 312.961.2297, if these offers apply to you.

I encountered this cute bike on my way to the bus stop yesterday. Between the light and the bike, I couldn’t pass it by without a quick snap.

The Slideshow: Christine and Brian’s wedding.

I’m a beginner when it comes to slide shows, so here’s my first for you to enjoy. A little montage of Christine and Brian’s wedding. Imagine me whistling Whitney Houston’s “Moment in Time” as you’re viewing it. Okay, that might not make you want to watch it, so feel free to hum any dang song you feel like singing.

Speaking of Whitney’s “Moment in Time,” feel free to check out this diva before she became cracked out. Very fitting that there was a photo montage of the summer Olympics at the beginning.

The Wedding: Lindsay & Esenam

I have so many great photos of this wedding, but I’d thought I start here so Lindsay and Esanam could see how gorgeous they look.

More photos will be posted soon.

First, I’d give anything to have Lindsay’s gorgeous neck and shoulders. Soooo lovely…they remind me of a ballerina’s.

I loved the trees at the park where we photographed the wedding party before the ceremony. Gorgeous!

A little message from lil’ ol’ me

I interrupt my regular sporadic posting of photos for a brief message to some of my clients who are going through some tough times right now.

I imagine it feels like you’ve been sucker-punched by life recently. But I and a bunch of your friends and family are sending lots of positive energy your way. To me, life doesn’t always hold a lot of rhyme or reason, but I do know this: the rotten moments make the spectacular moments all the more precious and, well, spectacular.

I look forward to capturing your spectacular moments very soon. Hang in there.

Christine & Brian: The Wedding

As I’ve been helping my sister finish last minute tasks for her wedding, I’ve been in awe in how much work goes into a wedding. I mean, I intellectually knew this to be true, but when you actually see how much work goes behind the scenes, well…it makes me exhausted just thinking about it.

So Bravo! to Christine and Brian and their vendors for pulling off such a seamless and fun night. Everyone had a great time, and I laughed and smiled constantly as I was going through the photos of the big event.

First off, here are the vendors that helped make it happen:

Ceremony/Reception: Green Dolphin

LaSalle Flower Shop (LaSalle St. location)

Officiant - The Reverend Donna Rathert (from Michigan)

Music: Style Matters

Now onto what you’ve been waiting for: The Photos!

Here are some of my faves. In a couple days, I want to post a slide show.
